As Groupon entered the merchant hardware business, they needed a new solution that was not only competitive but never seen before! With a new UX model offering an innovative merchant interface that merged inventory with business metrics and goals, they hoped to enter an overly saturated market.

Goal

Stablish Groupon as an innovator

We developed a wildly innovative smart interface that reacted to time, recent local events, and user interaction patterns. It was the onset of artificial intelligence applied to the user interface, with the transactional interface updating and morphing to the context of each interaction.

Result

Exclusive patent for Groupon

Lui (Learning User interface) earned more than 4 patents for Groupon. It featured an interface that not only trained season employees but also reacted to purchasing trends (inventory, regular product sequence,  and  even local events (i.e. games, concerts, weather patterns (rain, cold), etc.
